Welcome to World of Warcraft Arena
The WoW Arena is the place where the titans of world of warcraft meet. The arena offers a place where players, of the opposite faction or from the same faction, battle it out to prove they are the best. Sound the horn of war, gather skilled allies and create your own arena team. You will have to choose your teammates wisely, everything matters in battle: skill, class combination and last but not least, gear. Players can fight in teams of 2vs2, 3vs3 and 5vs5. Every fight is a last man standing fight, with no time limit.
How to create an Arena Team?
With Cataclysm, a new way to create arena teams was introduced. You no longer need to walk around and find a vendor to sell you a charter to create a team.
Instead, you can now simply open the Honor Panel of your character, select the Arena Teams tab, and from there you can create teams by simply clicking on a blank flag. This will pop a new window asking you to type in the name of your arena team and customize the flag of the team.
Once the team is created and selected, new members can be invited via the Add Member button, in the bottom-left corner.
Patch 3.1, newly formed teams have their Team Rating set to 0. Before patch 3.1, the newly formed arena teams started from 1500 rating.
As of Cataclysm, arena teams can join matches from the Honor Panel of the character, in the Conquest tab.
How World of Warcraft Arena works?
Teams will be matched up to fight other teams at the approximately same rating as their own.
Teams will get in the arenas after they join a queue. Then they will be loaded in a holding area where they can prepare themselves for the battle - they have 2 minutes. The spells will have no cost before the battle begins so they can buff without wasting any mana.
When the players will join the arena, all their cooldowns on abilities will be reset.
Any existing buffs and conjured items from outside the arena will disappear upon entering. This is to ensure that outside buffs are not used, and that no conjured items from players out of your team are being used. Pets are dismissed upon entering an arena. Players must re-summon them once entering. Players cannot change gear after the arena starts, even if out of combat, only weapons are changeable. No potions and food/water are usable in the arena, only bandages, conjured items from a team player that is with you in the arena and the water that can be purchased from Officer Accessories Quartermaster in Champions Hall(Alliance side) and Hall of Legends(Horde side).
After 2 minutes, the gates fly open and the match officially begins. Use teamwork, coordination, and communication to outplay your opponents! You will have no information about who your opponents are, or what their class is until the match begins.
Death in the Arena
When a character is defeated in an Arena match, they'll have the option to run around and "spectate" as a ghost by clicking on the appropriate option in the release spirit window. As a spectator, you can move freely around the arena and view the actions of the "live" players but can't be seen by other players and you can't interact with them.
Every Arena match is a fight until every last opponent is defeated. Players might resurrect their teammates if they are out of combat.
After 90 seconds from the beginning of the fight, two Shadow Sight powerups will appear on opposite sides of the arena. Shadow Sights will allow you to see stealth or invisible players at the price of increasing damage taken by 5% for 15 seconds.
One aspect of the Arena System is the introduction of seasons. Every season lasts several months. At the beginning of each season you get new items that are especially created for the Arena, with more resilience and stamina. These epic items can be purchased with points rewarded for playing arena matches.
At the end of each season the best teams are rewarded with some unique prizes such as special mounts, titles, or anything else the season's promoters deem worthy of the best gladiators.
The top 0.5% arena teams of each battle group receive the Gladiator Title and a unique Drake mount.
